About the Band

Grateful To Be Alive started the way most great things do — with friends, a garage, and a deep and abiding love for the music of the Grateful Dead. What began as a loose collection of jam sessions has grown into something the band never quite planned: a community.

Based in New Jersey, the band has spent years honing the art of the long-form jam, the gentle country ballad, and the sprawling psychedelic excursion that made the Dead unlike any band before or since. They don't attempt to be the Grateful Dead — they attempt to honor them, bringing their own personalities and improvisational instincts to every performance.
